Board book "Links"

Board Book Links

Board Book Links allow administrators to add links within a meeting Board Book to provide quick access to related content and external resources.

Links can point to:

  • External websites (URLs)

  • Other Board Books

  • Previous meetings

  • Documents stored in the References section in BoardWorks

These links are accessible to users when they view the meeting in BoardWorks, regardless of which supported application they are using.

Adding links to a Board Book

Links are added directly to a meeting using the Actions menu.

To add a link:

  1. Navigate to the meeting.

  2. Open the Actions menu.

  3. Select the option to add a link.

  4. Choose the destination type, such as an external URL, another Board Book, a previous meeting, or a reference document.

  5. Save the link.

Once added, the link becomes part of the meeting Board Book and is available to users with access to the meeting.

To add a link, highlight the text in the Board Book where the link should appear, then select Link to associate the text with the external content.

This opens a menu where you can specify the external content to link to, such as an external website, another Board Book, a previous meeting, or a reference document.

URL

Selecting the URL option allows administrators to link text in the Board Book to a specific external website. Enter the full web address, including http:// or https://, to create the link.

Once saved, users can select the linked text in the Board Book to open the website directly.

Board Book

Selecting the Board Book option allows administrators to link directly to another location within the same meeting. This includes linking to:

  • Specific agenda items

  • Particular pages or sections within meeting documents

These links make it easy for users to quickly jump to related content within the meeting Board Book, improving navigation and review efficiency.

Note: Administrators can preview the selected destination before saving the link by selecting View Destination, ensuring the correct section of the Board Book has been chosen.

Previous Meeting

Selecting the Previous Meeting option allows administrators to create a link to content from an earlier meeting in BoardWorks.

Administrators can search for the desired meeting using the search bar at the top of the screen. Once selected, links can be created to specific parts of that meeting, allowing users to quickly reference prior discussions, materials, or decisions directly from the current Board Book.

This option is useful for providing historical context or linking related meetings together for easier navigation.

Once a previous meeting is selected, administrators can specify:

  • Specific agenda items, and

  • Specific pages or sections of documents

This allows users to quickly jump to relevant content from a previous meeting directly within the current Board Book.

Note: Administrators can preview the selected destination before saving the link by selecting View Destination to ensure the correct section of the Board Book has been chosen.

Reference Section

Selecting the Reference Section option allows administrators to link directly to an existing document stored in the References section of BoardWorks.

Administrators can use the search bar and available filters to quickly locate the required reference document and select it as the link destination.

Once linked, users can access the referenced document directly from the meeting Board Book.

Note: Administrators can preview the selected destination before saving the link by selecting View Destination, ensuring the correct reference document or section has been chosen.
